Grandma Ruby's is a family-owned business with locations in Minnesota and Tennessee. The Carpenters, Harvey & Kari, live in Minnesota and the Junions, Dan & Marni, live in Tennessee. Kari and Marni are sisters and, in case you're wondering, Grandma Ruby is a real person - she's our grandma.
We would like to introduce you to the REAL
Grandma Ruby...

Raised during the Great Depression, Mamo knew how to make mundane foods and dessert into delectable meals that friends and neighbors would talk about for days. Of course, we kids liked the desserts best! During a time in history when it was uncommon for women to work outside the home, Mamo had the courage to step out of the norm and worked in a local school cafeteria. Yes, she was the "lunch lady" of her time and, ahead of her time. She had two daughters and four granddaughters and encouraged us all to pursue our dreams of education & careers. The best part is she didn't just say it, she did it and was an example for us and all women with dreams. Mamo's inspiration and encouragement to her granddaughters is what got us to where we are today and gave us the desire to pass that on to our children and the next generation of women everywhere with dreams.
In 1991 Mamo was struck with ALS (Lou Gerhig's disease), which eventually took her life. We were fortunate to be there in her final moments and our time together throughout the years created a lasting impression and special bond between us. Mamo's strong faith in God was also passed to her children and grandchildren. Our faith and trust in God is what got us where we are and where He wants us to be. We await the day we will be reunited with Mamo and are honored to share the inspiration of our beloved Grandma Ruby, recognizing that Grandmothers all over the world bring happiness and joy into the lives of those they touch.

When we decided to go into business together, we tossed around a lot of different names, but we decided to name our business after the person who had the most influence in our lives growing up together. We live miles apart now but we reminisce often about the laughter and joy during our childhood with Grandma Ruby, whom we affectionately called Mamo, and she had the ability to touch everyone in a positive and meaningful way.
